Facilities for employees
As an employee of Zuyd, you are entitled to all sorts of practical facilities. These are summarized below.
- Staff card
As a Zuyd employee, on your first day of work you will be given a staff card. This gives you access to buildings and allows you to park, print and copy documents, and borrow books from the Zuyd Library. Each month, Zuyd will add credit to your card for coffee, cappuccino, hot chocolate, or tea.
- Car and bicycle parking
Your staff card allows you to use the parking areas. The costs of this are €1.15 per day, even if you park in several locations in the course of a day. You can top up your balance on betalen.zuyd.nl and the MyNetPay App. More information about parking is available at the location where you will be working. Before your first working day, agree with your supervisor where you will be parking, as you won’t have a staff card when you arrive. Bicycle parking is free.
- Restaurants
All of the university's locations have a restaurant, with a wide range of products. You will also find vending machines at all locations dispensing hot and cold beverages and snacks, as well as a coffee corner at some locations.
- Library
Zuyd's library contains an extensive collection of books, journals, and reference works. You can borrow these with your staff card once it has been assigned a special barcode. You also have access to scholarly information through various databases, including the HBO Knowledge Base. The library has branches at six locations. The employee card/library card also gives you access to other libraries in the region, including Maastricht University Library and the library in Sittard. More information can be found at bibliotheek.zuyd.nl.
- Audiovisual resources
If you need audiovisual support for your work or want to borrow something (for example, an HDMI Cable or a Jabra speaker), please contact the location's Service Desk. The supply may vary by location.
- ICT facilities
If you work at Zuyd, you will have a laptop at your disposal with Microsoft Office and a range of other software, such as educational or specific software. Please ask the Service Desk if you need any support.
- Zuyd account
You need a Zuyd account to access the ICT systems. New employees are sent an e-mail to their private account before their first working day, containing a username and password.
- Wi-Fi
Your Zuyd account enables you to log in to Zuyd’s Wi-Fi network. You can log in from home or from your mobile device.
- Printing, copying, and scanning
Your staff card allows you to print, copy, and scan at all locations. You can send print jobs from Zuyd's fixed equipment, as well as from your phone, tablet, or laptop.
- Mobile phone
Your supervisor decides whether you are permitted to make use of a Zuyd mobile phone. The service department or school will pay for the phone and cover the usage costs.
