Students
Around 13,000 students are enrolled at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences. Around 3,500 new students enrol every year. Around 50% of the students are aged between 21 and 27 years old. There are almost equal numbers of male and female students at Zuyd University.
The share of non-Dutch students is 11%. The majority of these students are from Germany and Belgium.
Education
Zuyd offers 37 bachelor's programmes and 11 master's programmes, 7 associate degrees and 1 prebachelor programme. Zuyd Professional offers a wide range of training courses and programmes for professionals.
Research
Zuyd has 33 research centres. Associate professors, lecturers, and students carry out practically-oriented and socially-relevant research. They contribute to innovations and developments in the business sector and connect practice and education. Zuyd has defined three core points for its applied research. These core points contribute to regional development and were devised in close cooperation with the regional or Euregional government bodies, the business world, and educational institutions. The core points for research are:
- Innovative care and technology
- Transition to a sustainably-constructed environment
- Life Science and Materials
Implementation of the core points for research takes place in two Centres of Expertise and two cooperations:
- Centre of Expertise for Innovative Care and Technology (EIZT)
- Chemelot Innovation and Learning Labs (CHILL)
- Brightlands Smart Services Campus (BISS)
- Transition toward a sustainably-built environment
Organization
Zuyd has 30 schools and seven service departments. The schools provide education in the form of bachelor's programmes, associate degrees, master's programmes, and courses and training sessions for adults. The research centres are embedded within the schools. The service departments support the primary process within Zuyd, and the administration service supports the Executive Board. Read more
Employees
Around 2,300 employees work at Zuyd, almost two-thirds of whom have a teaching role. Almost half of the employees are younger than 50 years of age. Slightly more women than men work at Zuyd University.
Locations
Zuyd is based in Heerlen, Sittard, and Maastricht. Zuyd has a total of eleven locations in these cities.
